Overview

Children’s Hope Hospitality House is saving families from around northeast Indiana and beyond considerable time, energy and dollars in travel and overnight lodging while their children undergo lifesaving treatments at area hospitals. Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House offers families who would sleep in cars and hospital hallways a safe haven at a donation of $10 per day, although no family will be turned away for the inability to pay.

Jack Arnold, founding president of Children’s Hope, says, “Children’s Hope is a reality, where very worried parents receive comfort and support, in addition to lodging. It’s not just a hotel; there is a lot of healing going on and a lot of communicating between guests. We also have a library, which provides much-needed information for parents, and a meditation room which serves as a great spiritual comfort zone.”

History

In 1996, a survey of local hospitals revealed the need for a lodging facility such as the Children’s Hope Hospitality House. Similar facilities have enjoyed wide success and service nationwide.

Endorsed by Lutheran Hospital, Children’s Hope, Inc. established a board of directors and advisory committee to ensure that the vision becomes a reality.

A tract of land was secured for this facility. The new building was constructed in 2003 and offers six private bedrooms with baths, a fully equipped kitchen, a stocked pantry, living room, TV lounge, computer room and meditation room for when pastoral care or private moments are needed.
